How Your Price Is Calculated
Your estimate follows a simple formula: the live spot price of the metal, multiplied by its purity percentage, and then by the weight.
For example, 10 grams of 18K gold uses 75% of the pure gold spot rate - since 18K equals 75% purity. We then apply our payout rate to account for refining and operational costs.
Every factor in this formula is shown in the calculator above. No hidden charges, no surprises.

Purity Guide
Understanding Gold and Silver Purity
Gold purity is measured in karats. 24K represents pure gold (99.9%). Most jewellery is 9K (37.5%), 14K (58.5%), or 18K (75%), while coins are often 22K (91.7%). Higher karat means higher gold content and greater value.
Silver purity is indicated by numbers: 999 is pure silver, 925 refers to sterling silver (92.5% pure), and 800 is continental silver. Most silver jewellery and tableware is sterling.

What Does Spot Price Mean?
The spot price is the live market value for one troy ounce (31.1 grams) of pure metal. It’s determined by global commodity markets and fluctuates throughout the day based on supply, demand, and trading activity.
Our calculator reflects the most recent spot price in Australian dollars. Rates are updated frequently to match current market conditions.
The value shown in the calculator is an estimate. Spot prices fluctuate, though daily changes are typically minimal. To secure your final price, visit us in store.
